The Protestant Church of Salou was founded in 1969 by Pastor D.Mario Figueras, who gave the Church the name "Betania" in memory of the town where Jesus of Nazareth frequently rested and where he performed one of his best-known miracles. , that of bringing Lazarus back to life.
It all started with two families who met in a leather making workshop. Almost thirty years later, after several moves, on October 27, 1996, the facilities on Pere Galés Street where the Church building is currently located with its traditional medieval bell, brought expressly from the United Kingdom, were inaugurated.
Around 200 people are part of this Church that goes beyond a building. The Church represents a family and a community of people who follow Christ.
Since 2001, this street (previously known as Berenguer de Palou) has been named, at the request of the Church, after the Reformed Protestant from Tarragona and renowned 16th century pedagogue Pere Galés, noted for his vibrant faith and his intense interest in education.
